We invite highly motivated and exceptional graduate students (Master / Diploma) degree in 2016 with a background in materials science and chemical engineering and related fields to apply.

The project is in the DFG priority program SPP1934 Dispersitäts-, Struktur- Phasenänderungen und von und Proteinen biologischen Agglomeraten in biotechnologischen Prozessen.

Project: single droplet experiments to study the mechanical and thermal degradation of proteins during spray drying

Experiments with single droplets are a common technique to investigate the spray drying basics. only experiments droplets will be performed using a generator piezoelectric droplets in a drying chamber. The droplet size is controlled by means of a CCD camera and the Mie scattering imaging. This method also provides information on the aggregate formation and precipitation within a drop. The temperature and concentration profiles of the protein will be measured with the technique of Rainbow. Using fluorescence spectroscopy with specific dyes fluoresce can track the progress and protein denaturation.

Our goal is a relationship between the spray drying process parameters such as droplet size, the protein concentration and the functional groups of proteins, the additives of the solution as well as the gas composition and the temperature and degradation kinetics. The hypothesis of the project is that the time-resolved in situ measurements of droplet size, temperature distribution inside the droplets and provide UV fluorescence protein kinetics of protein degradation.

Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarships at Dalhousie University Canada 2016 - 2017

Dalhousie University is delighted to offer Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarships to study in Canada.

About:
Abdul Bader was born in the Iranian capital of Tehran in 1949. After completing his primary education, he left his homeland to Britain, where he finished high school. He then went to the US for advanced studies. Just before the Islamic Revolution, he returned to Iran after receiving an MA from the Fletcher School of Tufts University of Law and Diplomacy. A series of events, including the death of his father and the announcement of the Islamic Republic in Iran has changed the course of his career Mr. Bader. Therefore, his time was devoted to the management of a private company inherited.
In the early 1990s, Mr. Bader had the opportunity to obtain permanent resident status in Canada. A few years later he became a Canadian citizen. With no immediate family, Mr. Bader decided to try much of its Canadian assets at Dalhousie University to create the graduate scholarship fund Bader Abdul Majid for international students in doctoral or master . By learning the high cost of education for international students, Mr. Bader decided the scholarship should be directed to foreign students, with first preference to Iranian students who are residents of Iran. In this way, Mr. Bader hoped to give back, not only in his homeland but also in his adopted country, Canada, which, he said, was the most generous for people like him.
Eligible groups: Iranian, as well as international applicants, are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
Course Level: Scholarships will be awarded to students in Masters or Doctoral programs at Dalhousie University.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in any discipline.
Scholarship can be taken in Canada
Application Deadline: Scholarship application deadline is August 1, 2016.
