Hubert Humphrey Fellowships in the United States for Foreign Students 2016 - 2017

Brief Introduction:

The Humphrey Fellowship Program is for experienced professionals who wish to enhance their leadership skills through mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding of issues of mutual interest in countries of origin in the United States and Fellows.


Host Universities:

Fellows are placed at one of the participating universities USA. Fellows are not able to choose which university they attend. Instead, they are assigned to various groups of 7-15 to the most suitable host institution according to their area of ​​interest and professional field.

Level / Field of study:

As a graduate program without the scholarship offers interesting opportunities for professional development through selected academic courses, attend conferences, networking and practical work experience. Eligible areas of the program are:

• Agricultural and Rural Development
• Communications / Journalism
• Economic development
• Educational Administration, Planning and Policy
• Finance and banking
• Administration of Higher Education
• HIV / AIDS Prevention and Policy
• Human Resource Management
• Law and Human Rights
• Natural resources, environmental policy and climate change
• Public Health and Management Policy
• Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration
• Substance Abuse Education, Treatment and Prevention
• Teaching English as a Foreign Language
• Policy and Technology Management
• trafficking in persons and prevention policies
• Urban and Regional Planning

Total Awards:

Approximately 200 scholarships are awarded each year.

Target group:

The citizens of eligible countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa, East Asia and Pacific, South and Central Asia, and the Western Hemisphere.

Value of study / scholarship inclusions:

The Community provides:

• Payment of fees and affected host university;
• Pre-academic English language training, if applicable;
• An interview (live) allocation, including a one-time settlement for damages;
• Accident and sickness coverage;
• A book allowance;
• A single computer subsidy;
• Air Travel (international travel to and from the United States for the program and domestic travel required to program events);
• A professional development allocation for professional activities, such as excursions, professional visits and conferences.

Eligibility:

The applicant must have:

• A first cycle (first university) degree,
• A minimum of five years full-time work experience
• Limited or no experience in the US,
• Demonstrated leadership qualities,
• A public service register in the community, and
• English language ability

Instructions for Applicants:

Deadline for registration vary by country, but falls around May to September each year. The embassy appointment of US Binational Fulbright Commission or inform you of its internal deadline for receipt of applications. Embassies and Commissions shall submit their nominations to the Institute of International Education office in Washington, DC on October 1st.
